The City of Westminster held their 147th Memorial Day Parade through the streets of Westminster. Westminster's Memorial Day parade is perhaps one of the longest running annual Memorial Day parades in America dating back to 1868. Many veterans' organizations such as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War riders, Disabled Veterans and Miss Poppy participated in the parade. Following the parade there was a ceremony at the Westminster cemetery with guest speaker Major General Linda Singh a native of Carroll County. The 147th Memorial Day parade honors the men and women who serve in our armed forces but also those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our nation's freedom.
